Independent,
practitioner-led
consulting
Subite is not a generalist firm. The practice is built around deep, direct experience in payments, regulation, and financial technology — the kind that comes from working inside the systems being advised on.
The principal
Thierry Coopman is the founder and principal of Subite. With more than two decades inside the machinery of payments — acquiring, processing, card schemes, SEPA, SWIFT, compliance — he brings the kind of understanding that only comes from having built, operated, and led within the systems being advised on.
Beyond the technical depth, Thierry has always been drawn to the operational reality — product management, keeping platforms running flawlessly, onboarding merchants and partners, and building the business operations that turn a product into something that delivers value to customers and revenue to companies. The work that sits between the architecture diagram and the P&L.
That combination of product leadership, operational experience, and deep domain understanding across payments, finance, regulation, and technology is what makes Subite's advice practical and results-oriented.
How Subite works
Engagements are shaped by what the situation requires. Some clients need a trusted advisor on retainer — a practitioner they can call when a difficult question lands. Others need a scoped project with a specific output: a compliance framework, an architecture assessment, a regulatory filing. Others need someone to step into a leadership role while a permanent hire is made.
Subite works across all of these. The practice is deliberately small — not because growth is avoided, but because quality of engagement matters more than volume of work. Every engagement gets direct senior attention and deep domain understanding, not a delivery team with a partner in the background.
Engagement types
Advisory retainers
Regular access — typically two to four days per month — for businesses navigating ongoing payments or regulatory complexity. Useful for fintechs without in-house expertise in a specific domain, or for teams that need a sounding board for decisions as they arise.
Project-based consulting
Scoped engagements with defined outputs and timelines: compliance framework design, platform architecture review, licence application support, scheme audit preparation. Projects run from a few weeks to several months depending on scope.
Interim management
Senior leadership on a fixed-term basis: Head of Payments, VP Compliance, CTO, MLRO. Useful when a permanent hire is in progress, when specialist depth is needed for a finite period, or when a role needs to be filled while the organisation decides what it actually needs.
Workshops & training
Structured sessions for teams: scheme economics and operating rules, PSD3 readiness, AML programme design, payment platform architecture. Run as half-day or full-day sessions, in-person or remote.
